OnePlus has made a splash in 2025 with the release of its latest flagship, the OnePlus 13, along with the more budget-friendly OnePlus 13R. The OnePlus 13R follows the success of its predecessor, the OnePlus 12R, which impressed users with its exceptional display, battery life, and overall value.

The OnePlus 13R boasts a similar display and AI-based software upgrades as the OnePlus 13, along with the largest battery capacity ever seen in an international release from the company. While there are some expected downgrades compared to the flagship OnePlus 13, the price point of $599.99 makes these sacrifices justifiable for many users.

In terms of design and build, the OnePlus 13R features a squared-off design, reminiscent of recent smartphones from other brands. The phone is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. OnePlus has also introduced a new magnetic accessory ecosystem, compatible with MagSafe accessories, although wireless charging is not supported.

The display on the OnePlus 13R is a 6.78-inch LTPO 4.1 OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone benefits from technologies like RadiantView, Aqua Touch 2.0, and Eye Care 4.0 to enhance the viewing experience. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, offering durability and scratch resistance.

In terms of performance, the OnePlus 13R is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, offering excellent performance and efficiency. The phone features faster storage compared to its predecessor, along with the ability to expand RAM up to an additional 12GB. The combination of hardware and software optimizations results in a smooth and stable user experience.

The camera system on the OnePlus 13R includes a 50MP main sensor, 2x telephoto sensor, 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 16MP selfie camera. OnePlus has introduced a new Dual Exposure Algorithm to improve image quality and reduce motion blur. The phone offers impressive color accuracy and detail in both daylight and low-light conditions.

Battery life is a strong suit of the OnePlus 13R, thanks to its 6000mAh battery capacity. The phone supports 80W wired charging, allowing for quick recharging times. The OxygenOS 15 software, based on Android 15, offers a clean and intuitive user experience, with AI features and tools to enhance productivity.

Overall, the OnePlus 13R is a compelling option for users looking for a budget-friendly smartphone with flagship-level features. The combination of performance, battery life, and camera capabilities make it a strong contender in its price range. If you’re willing to overlook some minor drawbacks like the lack of wireless charging, the OnePlus 13R is definitely worth considering for your next smartphone purchase.
