One tragic incident occurred in Aurora on Sunday night, resulting in the death of one person and another being hospitalized after a driver crashed into a group of pedestrians. The crash took place around 9:40 p.m. on North Himalaya Road, just north of East 64th Avenue. Three adult males were walking along the shoulder of the road when a woman driving a Mazda sedan struck two of them from behind.
Both pedestrians who were hit were rushed to the hospital, where one sadly succumbed to his injuries. The other pedestrian is still hospitalized receiving treatment for their injuries. Fortunately, the third pedestrian was not harmed in the collision. The driver of the vehicle and the uninjured pedestrian stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities. Alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the crash.
Investigators are currently reconstructing the events leading up to the crash to determine if any factors could result in charges against the driver. As of now, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. This marks the 18th traffic-related fatality in Aurora this year, highlighting the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving.
