Ghanaian Political Activist AY Threatens United Television Host Agya Kwabena
Tensions in Ghana’s political landscape have heightened as AY, a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) social media activist, publicly stated her intention to take severe action against United Television host Agya Kwabena.
This declaration comes in the aftermath of AY’s recent arrest by National Security Operatives on charges of issuing death threats against President John Mahama and his family.
During an appearance on Movement Television, AY vehemently denied the allegations made against her by Kwabena, claiming that he had fabricated the accusations that led to her detainment. Despite being identified by Kwabena as “Ghana Jollof,” the individual responsible for the viral video, AY maintains that she did not make any threats during a Fante Comedy TikTok livestream.
Expressing her dissatisfaction with Kwabena’s role in her arrest, AY expressed her decision to seek traditional justice through her family in the Volta Region, stating, “I will not pursue legal action. My family will address this matter in our own way.”
While Kwabena stands by his accusations, citing video evidence to support his claims, security experts have raised concerns that AY’s threats of retaliation could exacerbate existing political divides in Ghana, especially in the delicate post-election period.
