Nigerian music continues to make waves on the global stage, with Afrobeats leading the way. The impact of Nigerian artists is evident in Spotify Wrapped 2024, where they have topped the list of the 10 most-streamed songs globally for four consecutive years. This highlights Nigeria’s position as a powerhouse in the music scene.

The growth of local music consumption in Nigeria has been remarkable, with a 146% increase in the past year alone. This surge in popularity is a testament to the country’s rich musical heritage and its influence on a global scale.

Nigerian artists have not only dominated local charts but have also made significant strides internationally. With Nigeria ranking 25th globally in terms of daily streams, it is clear that Nigerian music is resonating with audiences around the world.

On Spotify Wrapped, several Nigerian artists have achieved impressive streaming numbers. Asake stands out as the most streamed musician in Sub-Saharan Africa, captivating audiences across different age groups. Emerging talents like Ayo Maff and Muyeez have also made a mark with hits like “Dealer” and “Instagram,” while Young John’s “Jiggy Forever” claims the top spot as the most streamed album.

Burna Boy continues to be Nigeria’s most prominent export on the global stage, maintaining his position as the sole Nigerian artist in the UK Top 100. Ayra Starr, a female singer, has solidified her presence in Latin America and Europe, setting new records on the Spotify Global Chart.

Key hubs like Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja are driving Nigeria’s vibrant music scene, showcasing the country’s diverse musical landscape. Additionally, podcasts are gaining traction, with shows like Apostle Femi Lazarus and “Success Addicted” leading the charts in various categories.
