Tony Elumelu Appointed to IMF Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and Growth

Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, has been selected to join the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) newly established Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and Growth. This prestigious council includes global figures such as Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, and Reema Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US. Elumelu’s appointment signifies his role in shaping policies that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable private sector-led growth across the IMF’s 191 member nations.

The council, initiated by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, aims to improve macroeconomic conditions worldwide. Elumelu, who serves as chairman of Heirs Holdings and UBA, brings a wealth of experience in finance and development to the table. His foundation has also provided support to over 25,000 African entrepreneurs, showcasing his commitment to fostering economic growth and empowerment in the region.

With this recent appointment, Elumelu solidifies his position as a influential voice in global economic reform. His cross-sector influence and dedication to supporting entrepreneurship make him a valuable asset to the IMF’s Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and Growth.
