On November 25, Netflix will premiere a three-part “Cold Case” documentary about the unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey, just one month before the 28th anniversary of her tragic death. The case, which captivated the world in 1996, remains a mystery to this day.

JonBenét Ramsey, a child beauty queen, was found in the basement of her Boulder home on December 26, 1996. She had suffered a fractured skull, was asphyxiated with a garotte, and was sexually assaulted. The brutality of the crime shocked the nation, especially considering Ramsey’s young age and innocent persona.

The documentary, titled “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey?”, delves into the details of the investigation, including the initial ransom note demanding $118,000 for Ramsey’s return. The documentary raises questions about possible motives for the crime, exploring theories of an intruder versus involvement from the family members.

The Netflix series features interviews with key figures in the case, as well as archival footage from Colorado news media outlets. The documentary sheds light on the mishandling of evidence by Boulder Police and the spread of false information by the news media, which hindered the investigation.

In recent years, there has been renewed interest in the case, with the Colorado Cold Case Review Team digitalizing evidence and conducting DNA testing. The documentary suggests that there may be a renewed opportunity to solve the case and bring closure to Ramsey’s family and the community.

This Netflix documentary is just one of many projects that have explored the JonBenét Ramsey case. From TV shows to stage productions, the story of the young girl’s murder continues to captivate audiences and spark debate about what truly happened on that fateful day in 1996.
