Super Eagles Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi Surprises Former Coach with Car Gift
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi recently surprised his former grassroots coach, Nduka Ugbade, with a car gift as a token of thanks and appreciation for developing his potential.
The heartwarming moment captured Ndidi hugging an emotional Ugbade before presenting him with a Sport Utility Vehicle as a gesture of gratitude.
Despite Leicester City’s relegation to the English Championship at the end of the 2024–2025 season, Ndidi wanted to express his appreciation to Ugbade, whom he credits for playing a pivotal role in his professional development.
Ugbade, a former player for Nigeria, was part of the historic team that won the first-ever FIFA U-17 World Cup in China, then known as the Kodak FIFA U-16 World Tournament, by defeating West Germany 2-0 in the final.
After retiring from professional football in 2003, Ugbade transitioned into coaching and has since led various domestic teams. He also had a brief stint as the coach of Nigeria’s U-17 squad, the Golden Eaglets, during the 2023 AFCON tournament campaign in Algeria.
On the other hand, Ndidi has established himself as a key player for both Leicester City and the Nigerian national team. Since his move from Genk to Leicester City in January 2017, Ndidi has made 303 appearances for the Foxes, contributing 22 assists and 18 goals across all competitions.
In the recently concluded 2024–2025 season, Ndidi featured in 30 matches for Leicester, registering five assists and one goal in the League Cup, all of which came in the Premier League.
