Bernard Bediako Expresses Confidence in Winning Akwatia By-Election
Bernard Bediako, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Akwatia, is optimistic about his chances of winning the upcoming by-election scheduled for September 2.
The by-election was triggered by the unfortunate passing of MP Ernest Kumi from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During a recent campaign event on August 17, Bediako spoke to reporters about his campaign strategy, which focuses on direct engagement with voters. He highlighted the importance of listening to the concerns of the people and explaining how voting for the NDC can lead to development in the region. Unlike traditional large rallies, Bediako prefers a grassroots approach to connect with voters on a personal level.
Bediako’s confidence stands in contrast to the NPP Chairman Jeff Konadu’s call for a “massive turnout” amidst allegations of intimidation. The outcome of the by-election will not only test the strength of President Mahama’s NDC government in a historically competitive constituency but also provide insights into the shifting political landscape leading up to the 2028 general elections in Ghana.
