Basketball Star Kevin Durant Acquires Minority Ownership in Paris Saint-Germain
In a surprising move, basketball star Kevin Durant has recently acquired a minority ownership stake in Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions announced on Friday. The exact number of shares purchased by the power forward has not been disclosed by the club.
The club revealed in a statement that Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) owners have entered into an investment and strategic partnership agreement with Kevin Durant. Durant, known as one of the most celebrated US basketball players in history, is also a prominent investor in sports and entertainment ventures. The stake will be purchased through Durant’s media and investment entity, Boardroom.
As part of the agreement, QSI will collaborate with Boardroom on various commercial, investment, and content projects. This includes ventures in merchandise, media content, strategies in both the US and internationally, as well as potential basketball and multi-sport expansion.
“With Kevin, we look forward to developing ambitious initiatives that will drive the continued global growth of Paris Saint-Germain and QSI,” said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Chairman of QSI.
Kevin Durant, 36, currently plays as a power forward for the Phoenix Suns. He has achieved two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors and holds an impressive record of four Olympic gold medals, with the most recent one from the 2024 Paris Games.
In response to the partnership, Durant expressed his excitement, stating that PSG and Paris hold a special place in his heart. He believes that the club has significant plans for the future, and he is eager to contribute to the next phase of its development.
