The Ghana Police Service has received high praise from the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, for their crucial role in ensuring peace during the December 2024 general elections. In an interview with TV3, Mr Gbande commended the proactive approach taken by the police, which he believes helped to prevent any activities that could have compromised the integrity of the polls.

He specifically highlighted the vigilance of the police, noting that their actions successfully thwarted attempts to undermine the electoral process and averted potential violence. Mr Gbande expressed his appreciation for the professionalism displayed by the security forces, emphasizing that their dedication to safeguarding Ghana’s democracy was evident throughout the election period.

Moreover, he revealed the NDC’s readiness to protect their votes, stating that the party had a robust plan in place to resist any threats to the electoral process. Mr Gbande also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the NDC and other stakeholders, which played a significant role in the successful conduct of the elections.

In conclusion, he urged all political actors to learn from the transparency and fairness demonstrated during the election and emphasized the importance of strengthening Ghana’s democratic institutions and processes for the future. The Deputy General Secretary’s commendation of the Ghana Police Service serves as a testament to their commitment to maintaining peace and upholding the democratic principles of the country.
