Lower-tier team Golden Kick FC has made history by reaching the final of the MTN FA Cup for the first time after a thrilling victory over Attram De Visser on Saturday, May 10. The Accra-based Division One side secured a 3-1 win in a highly competitive semifinal match at TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.
The game’s first breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Attram De Visser’s goalkeeper, Dawuud Ishaque, unfortunately deflected the ball into his own net, giving Golden Kick an early lead. The team capitalized on this momentum just seven minutes later, as David Amuzu scored the second goal of the match.
In the second half, substitute Bless Ege sealed the win for Golden Kick with a well-taken finish early on. Despite Attram De Visser managing to pull one back through Precious Yaw Gyimah in the 87th minute, it was not enough to mount a comeback.
This remarkable victory has placed Golden Kick in an exclusive group, as they become only the third Division One club to reach the FA Cup final since 2011. They now join the ranks of FC Nania, Okwahu United (2016), and Bofoakwa Tano (2021) in achieving this feat.
Golden Kick will now eagerly await the winner of the other semifinal match between nine-time champions Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the same venue. The final is set to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
The team’s journey to the final has been nothing short of impressive, and they will be looking to make history by clinching the trophy in their debut appearance. Fans and supporters of Golden Kick will be eagerly anticipating the final showdown as they cheer on their team to victory.
