Legendary Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio has passed away, as confirmed by TMZ.
News of her death was shared on her official Instagram page on Monday. Paquita la del Barrio, known for her fearless stance against machismo culture in Latin America, leaves behind a legacy of empowerment through music.
Her iconic songs, including “Rata de dos patas” (“Walking rat with two feet”), challenged societal norms and inspired countless individuals to stand up against oppression.
Paquita passed away at her home in Veracruz, Mexico. While the cause of her death remains undisclosed, she had battled health issues in recent years, with hospitalizations for chest pain and pulmonary thrombosis.
Known as Francisca Viveros Barradas at birth, she leaves behind a musical legacy of over 30 albums, predominantly in the Ranchera genre.
