How Chris Brown Helped Shape Davido’s Career
Grammy-nominated artist Davido has credited American R&B star Chris Brown for playing a significant role in his career after their first meeting in 2018.
In a recent episode of the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, Davido recalled how it all started when a mutual Nigerian friend, who was close to Brown, FaceTimed him while at Brown’s house.
Davido mentioned that his song was playing in the background during the call, and when he asked about his friend’s location, he found out it was Chris Brown’s house. The friend then showed him a video of Brown dancing to his music.
Following this virtual introduction, Davido traveled to the United States to meet Chris Brown in person.
Reflecting on the encounter, Davido said, “Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. I met him in 2018. He had a Nigerian friend, one of his best friends.
“The friend called me one day on FaceTime, and my song was playing in the background. I asked where he was, and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Are you all playing my music? And he showed me Chris dancing to my song.”
