Japan and Libya Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, recently met with H.E. Mr. Abdullah Allafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, during the latter’s visit to Japan. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, with a particular emphasis on peace building and national reconciliation in Libya.
- Minister Iwaya welcomed Vice President Allafi’s visit to Japan, noting the increased high-level visits between the two countries over the past year. Vice President Allafi expressed Libya’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations in various fields, including peace building.
- Minister Iwaya commended Vice President Allafi’s efforts towards national reconciliation in Libya and expressed hope for political stability in the country through upcoming elections and the formation of a unified government. Vice President Allafi outlined the Presidential Council’s role in stabilizing Libya through reconciliation and electoral processes.
- Both sides agreed to enhance people-to-people exchanges and collaborate on initiatives that promote peace in Libya.
- The meeting also touched upon cooperation in the international arena, developments in East Asia and the Middle East, Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and climate change. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration on these issues.
