Real Madrid put on a show at the Santiago Bernabéu as they came from behind to secure a convincing 4-1 victory over Las Palmas. Kylian Mbappé was the star of the show, scoring two goals to lead his team to victory.
The visitors stunned the home crowd by taking the lead just 28 seconds into the game. Fábio Silva capitalized on a quick move and a perfect cross from the right wing to slot the ball past the Real Madrid goalkeeper. However, the lead was short-lived as Real Madrid quickly responded.
Rodrygo was brought down in the box, earning a penalty for Real Madrid. Mbappé stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick to level the score. The home side continued to pile on the pressure, with Cillessen putting on a goalkeeping masterclass to deny Rodrygo and Mbappé. Real Madrid finally took the lead in the 33rd minute when Lucas Vázquez set up Brahim Díaz for an easy tap-in after Cillessen parried Mbappé’s shot. Mbappé then added his second goal of the night with a clinical finish to make it 3-1.
The Frenchman thought he had completed his hat trick just before halftime, but VAR ruled the goal out for an offside in the buildup, much to the frustration of the home fans. Rodrygo extended Real Madrid’s lead shortly after the restart, making it 4-1. Las Palmas’ night went from bad to worse when Raúl Rodríguez was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Vázquez.
Despite Madrid’s dominance, goals from Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde were disallowed after VAR reviews. The final score remained 4-1 in favor of Real Madrid, propelling them to the top of La Liga ahead of their Champions League clash against RB Salzburg.
Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures include a Champions League match against RB Salzburg followed by a league game against Real Valladolid. On the other hand, Las Palmas, currently sitting 14th in the table, will be looking to bounce back when they host Osasuna in their next fixture.
