Kamini Pather, the winner of MasterChef South Africa and a renowned chef, has recently released a new recipe collection titled ‘All Dahl’d Up’. This book is not just a typical cookbook but a compilation of recipes that will tantalize your taste buds and take you on a flavorful journey.

In ‘All Dahl’d Up’, Pather shares her personal take on Indian cuisine, blending traditional recipes from her Durban upbringing with modern twists influenced by her travels and health consciousness. The recipes in the book reflect her unique approach to cooking, focusing on lighter techniques and contemporary flavors to match the way people eat today.

While some of the recipes are rooted in her family’s culinary heritage, Pather has added her own touch to make them more accessible and appealing to a wider audience. She emphasizes the importance of intention in cooking, considering how people feel when they eat and aiming to create dishes that bring joy and satisfaction.

One of the key messages Pather wants to convey through ‘All Dahl’d Up’ is that Indian cuisine can be just as versatile and popular as Italian or Chinese cuisine. She hopes to inspire readers to see Indian food in a new light, encouraging them to experiment with flavors and techniques in their own kitchens.

In addition to her culinary expertise, Pather also emphasizes the visual storytelling aspect of her book. She worked closely with designers to create a fresh and modern look for the recipes, moving away from traditional styling to present Indian food in a new and innovative way.

Despite her success as a chef, Pather remains grounded and focused on her health and well-being. She has studied nutrition coaching and takes an active role in cooking for herself to maintain a healthy lifestyle. When she’s not in the kitchen, Pather enjoys exploring Johannesburg’s gourmet offerings and staying active with her dog.

With her unique approach to cooking and dedication to spreading the love for Indian flavors, Pather is set to make a mark in the culinary world and inspire others to embrace the richness of Indian cuisine.
