MasterChef SA has announced a star-studded six-part spin-off Celebrity MasterChef, set to premiere this coming Saturday on S3. The winner of Season 5, Bridget Mangwandi, who is the youngest and the first black woman to win MasterChef South Africa, is looking forward to a bright future ahead.

In a recent interview with The Citizen, Mangwandi expressed her ambitions for the future, stating that she would love to have her own cooking show. Inspired by watching Siba Mtongana, she sees a cooking show as a major goal to aim for. She also mentioned the possibility of launching her own food products and collaborating with brands, all while pursuing her passion for cooking.

The final episode of MasterChef SA saw Mangwandi emerge victorious over 23-year-old Nabila Shamshum, with 34-year-old Chanel Brink coming in as the second runner-up. Shamshum had been on a winning streak leading up to the finale, but Mangwandi’s determination and support from her mother helped her clinch the title.

Mangwandi, who had known about her win before the final broadcast, found it challenging to keep the secret, especially at school where she needed to request exemption. Her mother was the only person who knew about her victory, and she was overjoyed to witness her daughter’s success on the show.

The new MasterChef SA champion has always been passionate about food, starting at a young age when she helped her mother, who worked multiple jobs. Making her mother proud throughout the competition was a driving force for Mangwandi, who felt a strong sentimental connection to her achievement.

Following the conclusion of Season 5, MasterChef SA announced the upcoming Celebrity MasterChef spin-off, where twelve media personalities who can cook will compete in the MasterChef kitchen. Judges Justine Drake, Zola Nene, and Chef Katlego Mlambo will once again critique the celebrities’ culinary creations, with exciting format twists in store.

Popular names like singer-songwriter Holly Rey, actor Armand Aucamp, presenter Graeme Richards, and foodie Dineo Ranaka are among the chosen celebrities participating in the spin-off. The competition promises to be intense and entertaining, as these personalities showcase their cooking skills in the MasterChef kitchen.

Stay tuned for the premiere of Celebrity MasterChef on S3 this Saturday, where Mzansi’s favorite media personalities will battle it out for culinary supremacy.
