Nana Aba Anamoah Criticizes Mark Okraku-Mantey’s Reluctance to Appear on United Showbiz
During a recent episode of United Showbiz, the popular entertainment talk show, the topic of Mark Okraku-Mantey’s reluctance to appear on the programme was brought up. Okraku-Mantey, a well-known figure in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, reportedly believes that the show has veered away from its original focus on entertainment and now delves into political and unrelated matters.
This stance by Okraku-Mantey sparked a heated discussion among the panellists, with media personality Nana Aba Anamoah taking a strong stance against the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Anamoah criticized Okraku-Mantey for failing to address crucial issues in the entertainment industry during his tenure in office.
In a previous appearance on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Okraku-Mantey suggested renaming United Showbiz, arguing that the show no longer revolves around showbiz discussions. When asked when he would consider appearing on the show, Okraku-Mantey responded by saying, “When we have proper conversations. Do you know that show is no longer about showbiz? You need to change its name. I don’t have a problem with the show. When the ethics work over there, I’ll come. Now, I don’t know where I will fit in.”
Anamoah did not hold back in her response to Okraku-Mantey’s remarks, stating that he had no moral right to criticize the show for addressing industry-related matters when he had failed to enact meaningful change during his time in a position of influence. She questioned his track record in the industry, pointing out that he had not made any significant impact despite being in a position to do so.
Furthermore, when the show’s host introduced Okraku-Mantey as “honourable,” Anamoah objected, stating, “He is not an honourable. Don’t give people titles they don’t deserve. He is not a Member of Parliament. He has never been.”
The video of the discussion quickly circulated online, garnering mixed reactions from viewers. While some supported Anamoah’s statements, others criticized her tone and questioned whether she had a personal issue with Okraku-Mantey.
Overall, the discussion on United Showbiz highlighted the ongoing debate within the Ghanaian entertainment industry about the direction of the show and the role of industry stakeholders in addressing key issues. It remains to be seen if Okraku-Mantey will reconsider his stance and make an appearance on the show in the future.
