Authorities have reportedly detained two men in connection with the fatal shooting of underworld figure Mike Lifman in George on Sunday morning. While Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut has refrained from confirming any details, stating that an official statement will be issued in due course, it has been confirmed that a 57-year-old man, believed to be Lifman, was shot at the Garden Route Mall around 11:30 am on Sunday. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, with Traut emphasizing that the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Mark Lifman, a prominent Cape Town businessman, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday for the Brian Wainstein murder trial, which has now been postponed. Lifman has been associated with an extensive organized crime network and has faced charges including extortion, fraud, and money laundering in the past.
