An armed man was injured in a shooting involving a Weld County sheriff’s deputy near Greeley early Sunday morning. The incident took place around 12:16 a.m. in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue Lane in unincorporated Weld County, just east of Greeley.
According to the 19th Judicial District Critical Response Team, deputies had responded to a disturbance call at the location. Upon arrival, they encountered an armed man who reportedly discharged his weapon while the deputies were present. It was not specified whether the man was targeting the deputies with his gunfire.
In response to the situation, a Weld County deputy fired their weapon at the armed man, striking him twice. The identity of the individual has not been disclosed to the public. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are considered non-life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.
