Jury Convicts Shon McPherson of First-Degree Murder in Denver Motorcycle Club Shooting
A jury has found Shon McPherson, 34, guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting that took place outside a motorcycle club in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood in 2023. The Denver district attorney’s office announced that McPherson was convicted on Tuesday of eight charges, including first-degree attempted murder, in connection with the tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of Michael David, 43, and Joshua Batts, 39. Three others were also wounded in the shooting that occurred at the Hell’s Lovers Motorcycle Club around 3 a.m. on November 5.
McPherson is now facing the possibility of life in prison without parole when he is sentenced on August 11, as per the district attorney’s office. Another individual, Todd Washington, 41, was also charged in connection with the shootings, although the current status of his case remains unclear.
According to the arrest affidavits filed in the case, the violence erupted after Washington’s daughter called him following an altercation with a security guard at the club. Washington and McPherson arrived at the scene and reportedly began surveying the area before confronting the security guards. Subsequently, shots were fired as the guards attempted to flee towards their vehicles, as captured by surveillance camera footage.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of resorting to violence in resolving disputes. The loss of life and the injuries sustained during the shooting have left a lasting impact on the victims’ families and the community at large.
