The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Club Licensing First Instance Body has recently announced the approval of eleven stadiums for Elite Competitions in the upcoming 2025/2026 season. This decision comes after thorough inspections of 16 venues, conducted in January and March of this year.

After reviewing submissions from the stadiums, the FIB has given the green light to the following eleven stadiums: Rumphi Stadium in Rumphi, Chitowe in Nkhotakota, Champion in Dowa, Silver and Nankhaka in Lilongwe, Dedza in Dedza, Kamuzu in Blantyre, Mulanje in Mulanje, Karonga in Karonga, Mzuzu in Mzuzu, and Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

However, Dimba, Civil, and Mpira Stadiums have been placed on standby due to minor improvements that need to be addressed. If these issues are resolved, they may still be considered for approval in the future.

On the other hand, Balaka and Chitipa Stadium have been deemed unfit to host matches. FAM Club Licensing Manager, Clement Kafwafwa, explained that venue owners were given ample time to make the necessary improvements after the initial inspection in January. While some stadiums successfully met the required standards, others failed to do so, resulting in their disqualification.

Kafwafwa emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations and stated that FAM will continue to monitor the conditions of all stadiums to ensure compliance. The club licensing process plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of facilities for football competitions in Malawi.

Overall, the approval of these eleven stadiums signals a positive step towards enhancing the football infrastructure in the country. Fans can look forward to exciting matches in these approved venues during the upcoming season.
