The tragic news of the deaths of legendary actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, has shocked the world. A maintenance worker at Santa Fe Summit, the community where the couple resided, made a chilling 911 call after discovering their lifeless bodies inside their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The caretaker, whose identity remains undisclosed, reported to the dispatcher that he had spotted what appeared to be unconscious individuals in the residence and urgently requested for emergency responders to be dispatched to the scene. He was unable to provide any specific details about the condition of the bodies he had come across.

When asked about the gender of the individuals in distress, the worker could only speculate, stating, “A female and a male probably, I don’t know, I don’t know, just send somebody up here real quick.” He emphasized that he was unable to enter the locked house and therefore could not confirm if the individuals were breathing.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office, led by Sheriff Adan Mendoza, later confirmed the devastating news that both Gene Hackman, Betsy Arakawa, and one of their beloved dogs were found deceased during a welfare check on Wednesday afternoon. While initial investigations did not reveal any obvious signs of foul play, authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

According to a search warrant affidavit obtained by various news outlets, the circumstances surrounding the deaths were deemed suspicious enough to warrant a comprehensive investigation. Sheriff Mendoza indicated that it appeared Gene Hackman and his wife had been deceased for a considerable period of time. However, the official cause of death has yet to be determined as the investigation continues.
