The Liberia Football Association (LFA) President, Mustapha I. Raji, along with Executive Committee member Tickly D. Monkoney, LFA Deputy General Secretary Mohammed A. Sheriff, and club presidents Sylvanus Morris, Chris Weah, and Ofori Nicholas, Jr., recently conducted an inspection visit to the Gompa Mini Stadium in Gompa, Nimba County. The purpose of the visit was to oversee the ongoing renovation works being carried out at the stadium.
Funded by FIFA through the FIFA Forward Program, the renovation project at Gompa Mini Stadium began on November 4, 2024. The project is nearing completion and is set to be officially dedicated in the near future. Some of the key upgrades being implemented as part of the renovation include the installation of floodlights, an underground water sprinkler system, inner fencing, and roofing for the spectator stands.
The turf installation and pitch markings have already been completed, and the focus has now shifted towards installing goalposts and substitution benches. The dressing rooms are also being upgraded to ensure they meet the standards required for a newly refurbished mini stadium.
Once the renovation is complete, the Gompa Mini Stadium will serve as a venue for various LFA competitions, including grassroots football. This project is part of the LFA’s broader infrastructure development efforts under the leadership of President Raji, with several other projects currently in progress.
Overall, the renovation of the Gompa Mini Stadium is a significant step towards improving the quality of football facilities in Liberia. It will not only benefit the local community but also provide a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and potentially advance in their football careers. The LFA remains committed to enhancing football infrastructure across the country to support the growth and development of the sport.
