Ladysmith Black Mambazo embarks on North American tour without Albert Mazibuko
In their upcoming North American tour, the beloved music ensemble Black Mambazo will be hitting the road for 39 shows without founding member Albert Mazibuko.
Communications manager Xolani Majozi explained, “Since late last year, Albert Mazibuko hasn’t been performing with the group in these types of shows due to his age. At 79 years old, it’s challenging to do 39 back-to-back shows.”
Albert Mazibuko remains a part of Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Despite not participating in the upcoming tour, Albert Mazibuko is still very much a part of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Mazibuko has been a member of the group since its inception in the 1960s when Joseph Shabalala founded the legendary vocal group.
The tour, which kicks off on February 10th and runs until April 9th, will take Ladysmith Black Mambazo to over 30 cities across the United States and Canada, including New York, California, and Washington.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo celebrates 65 years in the music industry
