Kairo Forbes Defends Her Ad Gigs
Recently, nine-year-old Kairo Forbes, the daughter of the late AKA and DJ Zinhle, faced criticism for landing advertisement gigs. However, Amapiano star Lady Du came to her defence, highlighting the challenges Kairo has already faced, such as the loss of her father.
Kairo has been featured in Ackermans advertisements alongside her mother and has also appeared in a Nedbank TV commercial. Lady Du took to Twitter to express her support for Kairo, emphasizing that she has been through a lot and deserves the opportunities she has been given.
Kairo’s Rise as an Influencer
Despite the criticism, Kairo has established herself as an international, award-winning influencer. In July 2024, she won the Favourite African Kidfluencer award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. At just four years old, Kairo launched her own watch, the Kairo Watch with ERA, in collaboration with her mother’s watch brand, ERA.
Described as a symbol of passing down a legacy, the Kairo Watch was well-received. Kairo’s grandmother, Lynn “Glammy” Forbes, highlighted that Kairo has been a brand since birth, and the watch launch was a natural progression in her journey as a young influencer.
With over 1.5 million followers on Instagram, Kairo has built a strong presence on social media. Her milestones, such as reaching 1 million followers at the age of five, showcase her growing influence and appeal to a wide audience.
