Kenya’s commitment to digital transformation has been reiterated by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau. The government’s focus on leveraging technology for economic growth and enhancing public service delivery remains steadfast.
In a recent meeting with a delegation from the AFD Group, led by the French Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Arnaud Suquet, Hon. Kabogo emphasized the importance of international partnerships in advancing Kenya’s digital agenda. These collaborations are crucial for building a robust digital infrastructure that can support the country’s growing digital economy and ensure inclusive services for all citizens, especially those in underserved areas.
The discussion centered on the progress of the AFD Group’s support for the Kenya Connectivity and Digital Transformation Project, a key component of Kenya’s Digital Masterplan 2022–2032. This master plan aims to drive comprehensive digital adoption nationwide. The AFD Group, in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, is actively involved in implementing this plan through its various institutions.
The Digital Masterplan includes initiatives such as expanding the national fiber network to improve internet access, establishing digital hubs for enhanced digital literacy and innovation support, and developing interoperable e-government services for streamlined public service delivery. Hon. Kabogo, along with other officials present at the meeting, expressed optimism about the role of strategic partnerships in accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation and creating a digitally inclusive society.
