Kathrin Kidger: A Fashion Journey

From a lineage of skilled needleworkers, Durban-based designer Kathrin Kidger was destined for a career in fashion. With a great-grandmother who was a milliner, a grandmother who worked in London’s fashion houses, and a mother who was a dedicated seamstress, Kidger’s passion for fashion was ingrained from a young age.

Since her debut at the Durban July in 2004, Kidger’s career has been on a steady upward trajectory. With accolades, multiple awards, and a loyal clientele, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the South African fashion industry.

Known for her timeless designs and focus on ease of wear, Kidger’s creations have graced the bodies of celebrities and everyday clients alike. Despite her success, Kidger remains dedicated to her private clients, creating personalized pieces for significant milestones in their lives.

Her Summer 204/5 collection showcases Kidger’s signature style of easy glamour and elegance. Featuring flowing silhouettes in deep colors like magenta and emerald green, accented with prints, the collection exudes effortlessness and sophistication.

In addition to her couture line, Kidger has also launched a sustainable clothing line, The Love Club, which focuses on eco-conscious design. By repurposing factory overruns, second-hand garments, and unique materials, Kidger creates wearable pieces that are both stylish and environmentally friendly.

With a commitment to producing locally and a focus on creating pieces that stand the test of time, Kidger’s work continues to resonate with women who appreciate comfort, practicality, and design in equal measure.

As she looks to the future, Kidger remains dedicated to her craft, balancing tradition with innovation to create fashion that is both timeless and relevant in today’s fast-paced world.
