Kaizer Chiefs are in talks to extend Yusuf Maart’s contract, according to a club insider. The 29-year-old midfielder’s current three-year deal with the team is set to expire in June next year.

Maart, who joined Kaizer Chiefs from Sekhukhune United in July 2022, has impressed since his arrival and has become an integral part of the team. He is highly regarded by coach Nasreddine Nabi, who sees him as a leader on and off the pitch.

The club insider revealed that Nabi has recommended offering Maart a new two-year contract, with the option to extend for another year. This shows the confidence the coaching staff has in Maart’s abilities and the value he brings to the team.

During his first season with Kaizer Chiefs, Maart made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists. Last season, he featured in 28 games for the team. In the current season, Maart has already played in all five matches, scoring a goal in the 4-0 victory over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout.

Maart, who came through the Orlando Pirates development academy, has seamlessly transitioned to life at Kaizer Chiefs and has proven himself to be a key player for the team. The club is keen to secure his services for the foreseeable future, recognizing his importance to the squad.

As negotiations continue, fans of Kaizer Chiefs will be hopeful that Maart will commit his future to the club and continue to play a vital role in their pursuit of success. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing contract situation.
