Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran Charged by FA for Improper Conduct
After his controversial dismissal in the Boxing Day match against Newcastle United, Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has found himself in hot water with the Football Association (FA). The 21-year-old Colombian forward has been charged with “acting in an improper manner” following his red card incident.
The incident occurred in the first half of the game when referee Anthony Taylor showed Duran a red card for an alleged stamp on Newcastle defender Fabian Schar. Infuriated by the decision, Duran reacted by kicking a water bottle on the touchline as he made his way off the pitch, an action that has landed him in further trouble with the FA.
As a result of the red card, Duran is already serving a three-match suspension, which saw him miss Villa’s recent 2-2 draw against Brighton. He will also be unavailable for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Leicester City and the FA Cup tie against West Ham United.
The FA has given Duran a deadline of Friday, 3 January, to respond to the charge. Meanwhile, Aston Villa has remained silent on the matter, choosing not to comment publicly at this time.
With Duran sidelined for the next two crucial fixtures, Villa manager Unai Emery faces a challenge in maintaining the team’s competitive edge in both the domestic league and cup competitions. The absence of Duran will require strategic adjustments to ensure the team’s performance remains at its peak.
