Jennifer Garner Volunteers with World Central Kitchen to Aid Wildfire Victims
As wildfires continue to ravage Southern California, actress Jennifer Garner has stepped up to help those affected. Garner recently revealed that she has lost a personal friend to the fires and knows many others who have lost their homes.
Garner has been volunteering with Chef José Andrés and his organization, World Central Kitchen, to provide meals to evacuees in Los Angeles. In an interview with MSNBC, she shared the heartbreaking news of losing a friend who did not escape in time.
Expressing her empathy for the victims, Garner said, “My heart bleeds for my friends. I could name 100 families who have lost their homes. It’s a devastating situation, and I feel almost guilty being in the comfort of my own house.”
Reflecting on her initial feelings of helplessness, Garner explained how she was compelled to take action and offer her support. She questioned, “What can I do? How can I help? What do I have to offer with these hands and these walls and the safety that I have?”
The wildfires have destroyed over 12,300 structures, including homes, schools, and commercial buildings, spanning more than 38,000 acres. With over 130,000 residents under evacuation orders and at least 11 lives lost, the impact of the fires has been catastrophic.

Amidst the devastation, Garner praised Chef José Andrés for his unwavering commitment to providing aid in times of need. She commended his efforts, stating, “It is an incredible thing to watch … Chef José come in and just, ‘We’ve got this handled, don’t worry. We’ve got you.’”
Throughout the ongoing wildfires, numerous actors and celebrities have also faced the loss of their homes. Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, has been a beacon of hope in times of crisis, offering meals and support to those affected by disasters worldwide.
As the community bands together to overcome the challenges posed by the wildfires, Garner’s dedication to serving others serves as a reminder of the resilience and compassion that can emerge during times of adversity.
