'It's All A Lie': Convicted Jan. 6 Rioter Opens Up About Turning Down Trump Pardon
SHARE

Pamela Hemphill, a self-proclaimed “ex-MAGA Granny” who was convicted for her involvement in the deadly January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, made a bold statement on Tuesday. She revealed that she turned down a pardon from former President Donald Trump because she did not want to be part of his deceptive narrative.

During an interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown, Hemphill highlighted Trump’s rhetoric about the “weaponization” of the Justice Department and how other convicted rioters have falsely claimed they were denied due process. Hemphill, who served two months in federal prison and is currently on probation for her role in the riot, emphasized that these claims were lies. She was one of 1,500 individuals pardoned by Trump on his first day in office for their involvement in the attack.

Among those who received pardons were hundreds of rioters convicted of assaulting officers, approximately 1,000 nonviolent offenders, and around 200 individuals accused of assaulting police, with their cases still pending. Some of those who were pardoned have since been rearrested for various offenses.

Hemphill has distanced herself from her previous “MAGA” persona and previously criticized Trump in 2023 for exploiting her battle with cancer in a post on Truth Social. She reiterated on Tuesday that she had received due process and admitted to being guilty of her crimes.

“I’m not willing to contribute to Trump’s false narrative, and it would also be a disrespect to the Capitol police officers and the rule of law,” she stated. “I couldn’t live with myself if I accepted a pardon. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.”

When asked how she underwent a significant change since the insurrection, Hemphill mentioned that she observed individuals in a January 6 group on X (formerly Twitter) portraying themselves as victims. She felt manipulated by disinformation and decided to start her own group to debunk false claims that she later discovered to be untrue.

Realizing that a president could become a cult leader, Hemphill acknowledged that she was in a cult after studying cult expert Steven Hassan’s 2019 book on Trump. She emphasized the importance of being honest and standing up against Trump, regardless of the consequences.

“It doesn’t matter what I could lose by speaking the truth. The cost of continuing to lie or deceive myself is not worth it. I’m not concerned about any repercussions. I’m not worried about anything,” she asserted.

Hemphill’s refusal of Trump’s pardon showcases her commitment to truth and justice, despite the challenging circumstances she faces. Her story serves as a reminder of the power of individual integrity and the importance of holding leaders accountable for their actions. It is no secret that the internet has completely revolutionized the way we live our lives. From shopping and communication to entertainment and education, the World Wide Web has opened up a whole new world of possibilities. One of the most significant changes brought about by the internet is the rise of online education.

Online education, also known as e-learning or distance learning, allows students to access educational resources and coursework through the internet. This means that individuals can learn from the comfort of their own homes, at their own pace, and on their own schedule. This flexibility has made online education incredibly popular among people of all ages and backgrounds.

There are many benefits to online education. For one, it allows students to access a wide range of courses and programs that may not be available in their local area. This means that individuals can pursue their interests and passions without having to relocate or commute long distances. Additionally, online education is often more affordable than traditional in-person classes, as there are no costs associated with commuting or campus facilities.

Another advantage of online education is the ability to learn at your own pace. This is especially beneficial for individuals who may have other commitments, such as work or family responsibilities. With online education, students can study when it is most convenient for them, whether that be early in the morning, late at night, or during their lunch break.

Furthermore, online education allows for greater flexibility in terms of scheduling. Students can complete coursework and assignments on their own time, rather than being restricted to a set class schedule. This can be particularly advantageous for individuals with busy schedules or those who prefer to work at their own pace.

Despite the numerous benefits of online education, there are also some challenges to consider. One of the main drawbacks is the lack of face-to-face interaction with instructors and classmates. This can make it more difficult for students to ask questions, seek clarification, and engage in discussions. Additionally, some people may struggle with self-discipline and motivation when it comes to online learning, as there are no set class times or deadlines to adhere to.

Overall, online education has revolutionized the way we learn and has made education more accessible and convenient for people around the world. While there are certainly challenges to overcome, the benefits of online education far outweigh the drawbacks. As technology continues to advance, it is likely that online education will become even more prevalent in the future, providing even greater opportunities for individuals to pursue their educational goals. The field of artificial intelligence (AI) has seen significant advancements in recent years, with researchers and scientists continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible with this groundbreaking technology. One area where AI is making a significant impact is in healthcare. AI-powered tools are being used to analyze medical images, such as X-rays and MRIs, to assist doctors in diagnosing diseases and conditions more accurately and quickly. AI algorithms can also sift through vast amounts of patient data to identify patterns and trends that may not be apparent to human healthcare providers, leading to more personalized and effective treatments.

In the financial sector, AI is being used to improve fraud detection, risk assessment, and customer service. Banks and financial institutions are leveraging AI algorithms to analyze transaction data in real-time, flag suspicious activities, and prevent fraudulent transactions. AI-powered chatbots are also being deployed to assist customers with basic queries and provide personalized recommendations based on their financial history and preferences.

Transportation is another industry that is benefiting from AI technology. Self-driving cars, powered by AI algorithms, are being developed by companies like Tesla and Waymo to make transportation safer and more efficient. These autonomous vehicles use sensors and cameras to navigate roads, make decisions in real-time, and avoid accidents. AI is also being used to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve public transportation systems in smart cities around the world.

In the manufacturing sector, AI is revolutionizing the way products are designed, produced, and distributed. AI-powered robots and machines are being used to automate repetitive tasks, increase production efficiency, and minimize errors in the manufacturing process. AI algorithms can also predict equipment failures before they occur, enabling companies to schedule maintenance proactively and avoid costly downtime.

Overall, AI has the potential to transform numerous industries by enabling more efficient processes, better decision-making, and improved customer experiences. As researchers continue to push the boundaries of what is possible with AI technology, we can expect to see even more groundbreaking advancements in the coming years. The future of AI is bright, and the possibilities are endless. The world of technology is constantly evolving, with new innovations and advancements being made every day. One of the most exciting developments in recent years has been the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Artificial intelligence refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. AI is already being used in a wide variety of industries, from healthcare to finance to transportation. It has the potential to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and even save lives.

One of the most promising applications of AI is in healthcare. AI-powered systems can analyze large amounts of data, such as medical records and imaging scans, to help doctors make more accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions. AI can also be used to predict the likelihood of certain medical conditions developing in patients, allowing for earlier intervention and treatment.

In the field of finance, AI is being used to detect fraudulent activity, predict market trends, and automate trading decisions. AI-powered chatbots are also becoming more common in customer service, providing instant assistance to customers and improving overall satisfaction.

In transportation, AI is being used to optimize traffic flow, improve routing and scheduling, and even develop self-driving vehicles. These advancements have the potential to reduce congestion, lower emissions, and make transportation safer for everyone.

Despite its many benefits, AI also raises ethical concerns. There are fears that AI could lead to job displacement, as machines take over tasks that were once performed by humans. There are also concerns about privacy and security, as AI systems have the potential to access and analyze vast amounts of personal data.

As AI continues to develop and become more integrated into our daily lives, it is important for policymakers, businesses, and individuals to consider these ethical implications. Regulations and guidelines must be put in place to ensure that AI is used responsibly and ethically.

Overall, artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work. It has the power to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges. However, it is crucial that we approach AI with caution and foresight, to ensure that its benefits are maximized while its risks are minimized. Only then can we truly harness the power of AI for the greater good.
