As convenient as Sky Glass and Sky Stream are, sometimes things can go wrong. Cordbusters recently reported that a selection of Gen 1 and Gen 2 Sky Glass TVs are currently experiencing bugs related to picture and sound. Users have reported issues such as the TV picture going blank while the audio continues playing, and a message saying “Please wait for your programme to load” popping up when the TV is turned on.
While there is no known fix rolling out from Sky at the moment, there are a few things you can try to get your services back up and running. It’s important to first check if there is an active Sky issue by visiting Sky’s service page or checking their social media channels for any updates on known problems.
If the issue persists, you can try a soft reset on your Sky Glass device by unplugging it from the mains or using the settings menu to restart the device. Additionally, you can attempt the Sky recovery process, but be aware that this may not work for everyone.
For Sky Glass, the reset process involves turning off the TV at the mains, holding the Standby button for at least 60 seconds, and then turning the TV back on and following the setup process. For Sky Stream, the process is similar, involving holding the Standby button on the puck for 60 seconds and allowing the device to go through the recovery process.
If the recovery process does not work, Sky recommends checking their help pages for more specific solutions or contacting them directly for assistance. It’s important to note that charges may apply for calling Sky, so using the virtual assistant on their website may be a more cost-effective option. Keep an eye out for updates from Sky on fixing common issues, as they may provide additional guidance in the future.
