Former National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director, Mustapha Ussif, has come out to defend himself against accusations of wrongdoing during his tenure at the National Service Secretariat from 2017 to 2021. This comes after the Attorney-General, Dominic Ayine, named Ussif among 12 individuals allegedly implicated in a scandal at the NSS and announced that they would be prosecuted.
In a statement issued by Mustapha Ussif, who is also the Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubore Constituency, he vehemently denied any alleged wrongdoing. He expressed his willingness to be held accountable for his time as the NSS boss, emphasizing that he served with diligence and honesty throughout his public life.
Ussif stated, “It is my fervent belief that once you hold public office, you should at all material times, and at whatever cost, be ready, willing, and able to account for your stewardship.” He further added, “I am ready, willing, and able to account for my stewardship at the National Service Scheme from February 2017 to January 6, 2021.”
The former NSS Executive Director welcomed the opportunity to address any allegations brought against him, including appearing in a Court of competent jurisdiction if necessary. He urged his supporters, constituents, party members, and the general public to remain calm, assuring them of his commitment to serving with integrity and transparency.
