Media personality Dineo Ranaka cooks her way to the ‘Celebrity MasterChef SA’ finals
After showcasing her culinary skills and impressing the judges on the reality TV cooking show, media personality Dineo Ranaka has secured her spot in the finals of ‘Celebrity MasterChef SA’.
Upon hearing the exciting news, Ranaka expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating, “Honestly, I’m too old for such heart attacks, but I’m so excited.” She will be competing against podcaster Seth Shezi in the highly anticipated final showdown this weekend.
The semifinal episode featured Ranaka, Shezi, singer Holly Rey, and fashion designer Mzukisi Mbane competing for a spot in the finale. The challenge required the contestants to prepare a three-ensemble dish, with each element representing one of the esteemed judges; Zola Nene, Justine Drake, and Katlego Mlambo.
Shezi emerged victorious in the semifinal round, expressing his surprise at the win. “Everyone received great critiques, and no one seemed to struggle,” he shared.
As Ranaka and Shezi gear up for the final battle, they will be competing for the coveted title of Mzansi’s “Celebrity MasterChef” along with a grand prize of R1 million. Half of the prize money will be donated to a charity of their choice.
Dineo Ranaka’s Impressive Cooking Skills
In the semifinal challenge, the contestants were tasked with preparing French-trimmed lamb with pistachio herb crust, sorghum risotto, miso, and romesco sauce. The dish aimed to test the competitors’ understanding of flavor, color, texture, and presentation.
A vegetable side dish was also included in the challenge to assess the contestants’ ability to layer flavors and think on their feet. The contestants showcased their adeptness at balancing the components of protein, starch, vegetable, and sauce.
Despite receiving praise from the judges for her flavors and seasoning skills, Ranaka’s lamb was slightly undercooked. Nene complimented Ranaka on her culinary skills but noted the need for additional cooking time to perfect the dish.
Reflecting on her performance, Ranaka expressed her desire for perfection, stating, “Hearing all three judges say that the lamb is good and that I [prepared] it to restaurant standard, this is good. But am I satisfied? No, because I wanted it to be perfect.”
If Ranaka emerges victorious in the final round, she plans to donate half of her winnings to the charity People Opposing Women Abuse, showcasing her commitment to giving back to the community.
With the stage set for an epic culinary showdown, fans eagerly await the ‘Celebrity MasterChef SA’ finale to witness Ranaka and Shezi battle it out for the prestigious title and the grand prize.
