Actress Nomzamo Mbatha recently shared her profound experience while filming the third episode of the new season of the popular show, Shaka iLembe. Mbatha described the episode, titled A King Rises, as a transformative moment in her life, both physically and spiritually.

The episode revolves around the coronation of Shaka Zulu as the Zulu King, a pivotal moment in history. Mbatha, who portrays Queen Nandi, Shaka’s mother, revealed that her character’s journey in the episode deeply moved her. As Shaka ascends the throne, Queen Nandi is officially titled Queen Mother, a significant shift that symbolizes her pivotal role in Shaka’s life.

In a heartfelt statement, Mbatha expressed how the emotions she felt during the filming process have left her speechless. She confessed, “Watching this episode made me even more emotional with every single frame we shot. I literally want to cry writing this.” Queen Nandi’s unwavering support, guidance, and protection of Shaka are prominently featured in the episode, showcasing the depth of their relationship.

The episode also delves into Queen Nandi’s internal struggle as she watches Shaka embark on a spiritual journey before his coronation. Despite her maternal instincts to protect her son, Queen Nandi realizes that this journey is Shaka’s alone to undertake. The portrayal of this emotional conflict adds layers to Queen Nandi’s character, highlighting her strength and vulnerability as a mother.

While viewers were captivated by the episode, Mbatha was on a different stage in Sevilla, Spain, hosting the Global Citizen NOW event. The event focused on the importance of investing in renewable energy in Africa and transformative development finance. Mbatha shared her awe at being in the presence of world leaders and activists during the event, emphasizing the significance of the cause.

In conclusion, the latest episode of Shaka iLembe not only showcased Mbatha’s exceptional acting skills but also provided a platform for her to advocate for important global issues.
