Honda has issued a recall for almost 206,000 Passport and Pilot vehicles due to a potential fuel leak. The recall affects 2023-2024 Passport and 2023-2025 Pilot SUVs, where an incomplete connection between the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe could lead to separation in a crash, causing fuel leakage and increasing the risk of fire or injury.
The issue arose from an “out of sequence process” during the installation of the fuel pipe, preventing a complete connection between the fuel neck tube and fuel pipe. The affected vehicles were manufactured between February 2023 and May 2025.
Although no injuries or deaths have been reported due to this issue, Honda has received one warranty claim related to the faulty connection. The automaker is urging owners of the affected vehicles to visit an authorized dealer for inspection as soon as they receive notification.
Owners will receive letters regarding the recall in early January. At the dealership, the staff will inspect and connect the fuel filler neck to the filler pipe in recalled vehicles with an incomplete connection, and this service will be provided free of charge.
The Honda Pilot, a long-standing vehicle in Honda’s lineup, has seen significant sales in the US, with nearly 127,700 units sold this year. The Passport, reintroduced in 2019, has also garnered attention with almost 29,200 units sold in the US.
Honda’s proactive approach to addressing this potential safety issue underscores its commitment to ensuring the well-being of its customers. If you own one of the affected vehicles, it is essential to follow the recall instructions promptly to prevent any safety risks associated with the fuel leak.
