The Namibia’s U17 Men’s National Team (Baby Warriors) has officially kicked off their preparations for the upcoming COSAFA U217 Championships, scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa from 4-14 December 2024. The team is gearing up for the tournament with a strong sense of determination and focus, aiming to secure a spot in the 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Head Coach Gerald Gunther expressed his confidence in the squad, highlighting the players’ overall fitness and commitment to the upcoming competition. With players hailing from various regions including Australia, Pretoria, and Cape Town, as well as local academies, the team boasts a diverse and talented lineup. Gunther emphasized the significance of the COSAFA Championships for the team and their ultimate goal of making an impact on the continental stage.

The Baby Warriors are set to face tough competition in the group stage, starting with a match against Zambia on 5 December, followed by clashes against Eswatini on 7 December and Zimbabwe on 9 December. The team will need to be at their best to navigate through the group stage and secure a spot in the knockout rounds.

The squad for the COSAFA Championships features a mix of experienced and emerging talents in key positions. Defenders such as Mcheni Kavendji, Milco Solunga, and Everett C Bell will be crucial in providing stability at the back, while midfielders like Delpiero Koam and Montgomery Karuaihe will be tasked with controlling the midfield and creating scoring opportunities. The forward line led by Johandry Motinga and Vitario Brunzuel will be looking to capitalize on chances and make an impact in front of goal.
