The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Greater Accra has found itself embroiled in controversy following a letter requesting submissions of names of party members interested in national-level appointments. The letter, dated 24th December and signed by the NDC Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, was met with skepticism by the Greater Accra Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

In a surprising twist, Chairman Ashie Moore dismissed the letter, stating that he had not received any directive from the national level or held consultations at the regional level regarding such appointments. He made it clear that the Regional Secretary’s actions were unilateral and not sanctioned by the party’s leadership.

“I am not aware of such notification from the apex level of the party. Neither has the regional executives committee been consulted nor have they approved such a directive,” Ashie Moore declared. He emphasized that the Regional Secretary’s decision was made without proper consultation and should be disregarded.

Furthermore, Ashie Moore highlighted the priorities of the party’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the successful handover of power and the implementation of key policies by the President-Elect. He urged party members to remain focused on the task at hand and not be swayed by unauthorized communications.

In a separate development, the NDC announced its intention to reverse all last-minute recruitments, payments, and promotions made by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. The party’s transition team expressed outrage over what they described as acts of bad faith and vowed to rectify these decisions once they assume power.

As the political landscape in Ghana remains tense in the lead-up to the transfer of power, it is clear that the NDC is determined to assert its authority and ensure a smooth transition. The controversy surrounding the letter requesting nominations for national-level appointments serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges of political leadership.
