HONOR Technology Unveils Winner of HONOR Talents: Global Design Awards

HONOR Technology, a leading global tech brand, recently made an exciting announcement to kick off the year by revealing the winner of their HONOR Talents: Global Design Awards. Established in 2020, HONOR Talents serves as a platform for youth empowerment and talent discovery across various fields. The program currently consists of two competitions: The Global Design Award and Voice Maker Original Music Awards.

The Global Design Award, which ran its call for entries between May and September 2024, received an impressive total of over 9000 submissions from around the world. The Middle East Africa region alone saw 53 entries, including the artwork of Zilungile Hanise from Gqeberha.

In South Africa, the call for entries for HONOR Talents was made in collaboration with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). Through information sessions and a robust social media campaign, young artists were encouraged to participate in the competition. Zilungile’s artwork caught the eye of the judges and she was awarded the prestigious Judge’s Choice Award, making her the first and only South African to receive this global recognition.

Zilungile Hanise expressed her joy at winning the award, stating, “I’m really happy to be recognized and to be working closely with HONOR this year. I’m hoping that a lot of growth will come from this opportunity.” The HONOR Talents program aims to promote innovation, social progress, and cultural exchange among young people in various fields such as science, technology, and art.

Mr. Fred Zhou, CEO of HONOR Technology South Africa, shared his excitement about the results of the awards, stating, “I’m extremely proud to see South Africa represented on such a large scale. As a brand, we believe in investing in the talents of young people and showcasing how art and technology can come together to create lasting products that benefit everyone.”

As part of her prize, Zilungile Hanise’s artwork will be featured on HONOR brand products throughout different provinces, with a percentage of sales going directly to her for the year. She will also have the opportunity to serve as a judge at the Global Design Awards in 2025.

HONOR Talents aims to collaborate with young people worldwide to create a more imaginative future, showcasing the talents and passions of these young individuals. As the program enters its fifth year globally, the call for entries for the second annual Global Design Award 2025 in South Africa will be announced soon, inviting more talented youth to participate.
