Ghana’s interoperable payment system has received high praise from Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the Special Advisor on Policy at the Office of the Vice President. This system allows for seamless payments between banks and mobile money accounts, making transactions easier and more efficient.
What sets Ghana apart is that it is the only country on the African continent with such an instant cross-payment system between bank accounts and mobile money wallets. This unique achievement has had a significant impact on the country’s financial sector and has greatly expanded financial inclusion.
During an appearance on the GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, August 26, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo emphasized the importance of Ghana’s interoperable payment system. He highlighted how it has fueled the adoption of mobile money, boosted e-commerce, and promoted financial inclusion throughout the country.
“Ghana is the only African country with fully interoperable instant payment systems, a unique achievement that has fuelled mobile money adoption, expanded e-commerce and promoted financial inclusion,” GTV quoted the Special Advisor on Policy at the Office of the Vice President as saying.
