President John Mahama recently highlighted Ghana’s efforts to strengthen its partnership with India in various key areas such as trade, agriculture, renewable energy, digital innovation, and youth empowerment. This announcement came during a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration across strategic sectors.

In his address, President Mahama emphasized the urgency of deepening cooperation between the two nations in areas of shared strategic interest. Specifically, he mentioned agriculture, agribusiness, renewable energy, digital innovation, health, and youth empowerment as priority areas for enhanced collaboration. The President also praised India’s contributions to Ghana’s development, citing examples of concessional loans, technical support, and significant infrastructure projects like the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, the Komenda Sugar Factory, the Elmina Fish Processing Plant, and the Tema-Mpakadan railway line.

Furthermore, President Mahama recognized India’s rapid economic growth as an opportunity for Ghana and other African countries to integrate more competitively into global value chains. He highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area, headquartered in Accra, as a platform for leveraging India’s economic progress for mutual benefit.

The President also extended his appreciation to the Indian business community in Ghana for their continuous contribution to national development, acknowledging them as a vital link between the two countries. He called for a reaffirmation of the commitment to deepening the partnership between Ghana and India, built on mutual respect, shared prosperity, and the aspirations of both nations.

In conclusion, President Mahama’s remarks underscored the importance of fostering stronger ties between Ghana and India across various sectors to drive economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development. The partnership between the two countries holds significant potential for mutual benefit and collaboration on a global scale.
