Fifteen Teams Secure Spots in Copa del Rey Round of 16
Fifteen teams have now secured their spots in the Copa del Rey round of 16, following the completion of Monday’s round of 32 matches.
Real Madrid had a dominant performance, defeating Deportivo Minero 5-0 to progress to the next stage. Goals from Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Güler (who scored twice), and Luka Modric secured a comfortable win for the Madrid side over the home team.
Joining Real Madrid in the round of 16 are Elche, Real Sociedad, Barcelona, Osasuna, Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, Ourense, Leganés, Almería, Atlético Madrid, Athletic Club, and Pontevedra.
The final round of 32 fixture will take place today, with Eldense set to host Valencia on Tuesday night.
Athletic Bilbao, the current Copa del Rey champions, are looking to defend their title after their victory over Mallorca in the 2024 final. The thrilling match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Athletic ultimately triumphing 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out to claim the coveted trophy.
