An Allegation of Assault Against DJ Skuzabell: The Aftermath
Popular former Lesedi FM presenter DJ Skuzabell, whose real name is Nkunyana Nkunyana, found himself embroiled in a scandal last year when his estranged wife, Thakane Ramakau, accused him of assaulting her. The assault case, however, was dropped in May 2024, after Ramakau requested its withdrawal at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.
Recently, DJ Skuzabell broke his silence on the matter during an episode of the QwaQwa’s Finest Podcast. He expressed how the allegations had tarnished his reputation and negatively impacted his career.
“The situation has affected my career to the extent that I am currently unemployed. Some people still view me as someone who abuses women,” he disclosed.
Despite the case being withdrawn, DJ Skuzabell revealed that the stigma continues to haunt him. The accusations have led to job losses and strained relationships within the industry.
“I want to reassure Mzansi that I am not an abuser. The case was withdrawn for a reason, and I even sought counseling to address the situation,” he stated.
In a previous interview with Daily Sun in April 2024, Ramakau detailed the alleged abuse she endured during their marriage. She claimed that the situation worsened when DJ Skuzabell initiated a relationship with a younger woman from Botshabelo, whom he eventually moved in with.
According to Ramakau, the breaking point came when DJ Skuzabell insisted on taking their furniture to his new partner’s residence, leading to a physical altercation.
DJ Skuzabell Upholds His Innocence
During the podcast, DJ Skuzabell vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that he never laid a hand on his wife.
“Those who helped me move the furniture can attest to this,” he emphasized.
The couple had been together since 2002, and Ramakau reportedly decided to withdraw the case for the sake of their children’s emotional well-being.
Contrary to Ramakau’s claims, DJ Skuzabell insisted that the case was dropped due to a lack of evidence against him.
“If someone accuses you of assault and has you arrested, there should be tangible proof, like visible injuries. However, there was no medical report documenting any harm she sustained,” he explained.
As DJ Skuzabell continues to navigate the aftermath of the assault allegation, he remains steadfast in proclaiming his innocence and striving to restore his tarnished reputation in the industry.
