Nigeria’s Flying Eagles emerged victorious in the final of the WAFU Zone B tournament, defeating Ghana with a scoreline of 2-1. This victory signifies a successful defense of the championship title that they claimed in the previous edition in 2022.

Under the guidance of Coach Aliyu Suberu, the Flying Eagles clinched the trophy with a stellar performance, led by the impressive Kparobo Arierhi who scored a brace to secure the win for his team. Arierhi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and later doubled the lead with another well-taken goal.

Despite Ghana managing to pull one back in the 74th minute, the Flying Eagles held on to their lead and emerged as the champions of the WAFU Zone B competition. The journey to the final was not without its challenges, as the team had to overcome tough opponents along the way.

In the group stage, the Flying Eagles suffered a setback with a 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire to secure a spot in the semi-finals. The team displayed resilience and determination in the knockout stages, defeating Niger Republic in the semi-finals after initially trailing by a goal.

With this triumph, both Ghana and the Flying Eagles have also secured qualification spots for the upcoming 2025 U-20 AFCON competition. The future looks bright for the young talents of the Flying Eagles, as they continue to make a mark on the international stage with their impressive displays and fighting spirit.
