FirstBank Ghana recently made a generous donation of GHȼ50,000 to support the Chief of Army Staff’s Quick Impact Project. This initiative, led by Lieutenant General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, aims to address the pressing accommodation challenges faced by young soldiers within the Southern, Central, and Northern Commands of the Ghana Army.

During a cheque presentation ceremony, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, reiterated the Bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the welfare of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). He stated, “Our donation is a testament to our commitment to the Quick Impact Project, which is crucial for providing adequate housing for our young soldiers.”

Mr. Asante further acknowledged the ongoing projects of GAF and assured that FirstBank would continue to support the successful completion of the Quick Impact Project. He emphasized that this is just the first of many donations that the bank plans to make to support the initiative.

Brigadier General Atogbakoga Alobawone, Chief Staff Officer, received the cheque on behalf of the COAS and expressed heartfelt gratitude to FirstBank for its generous contribution. He noted that the bank’s support would significantly advance the Quick Impact Project, which seeks to alleviate the accommodation issues faced by young soldiers.

The Quick Impact Project, which began with a sod-cutting ceremony on October 22, 2024, is funded by the Army Headquarters and supported by various donors, benefactors, and friends of the Ghana Army. The initiative aims to construct 10 three-story blocks, each with a capacity of 144 beds, across all commands to address the dire accommodation situation faced by officers and soldiers, especially the younger members of the Ghana Armed Forces.

By supporting the Quick Impact Project, the bank aims to contribute to the well-being of the soldiers who dedicate their lives to serving the country. Adequate accommodation is vital for the morale and effectiveness of the Armed Forces, and FirstBank is committed to being a partner in this noble cause.

Several distinguished officers, including Brigadier General Kweku Dankwa Hagan, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Operations and Training), Brigadier General Fuseini Salifu, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Intelligence), and Brigadier General Yehuza Salifu, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Policy and Plans), were present at the cheque presentation. Also in attendance was Mr. Enoch Vanderpuye, FirstBank Ghana’s Country Team Lead for Marketing and Corporate Communications.

FirstBank Ghana is dedicated to fostering strong relationships with the community and supporting initiatives that promote social welfare. By investing in the future of young soldiers, the bank is contributing to the overall stability and progress of the nation. FirstBank also encourages other organizations and individuals to join in supporting the Quick Impact Project initiative to ensure that the brave men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces receive the recognition and support they deserve.
