The FIFA Club World Cup Trophy Embarks on Global Tour
The FIFA Club World Cup trophy has continued its global tour ahead of the tournament’s kickoff in June.
This week, the prestigious trophy made its way to Cairo, Egypt, where it was warmly received by the Al Ahly squad. The Egyptian club is gearing up to face off against Inter Miami in their opening match of the competition.
Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al Ahly, expressed his excitement for the upcoming game, stating, “It will essentially be an away game for us, as most of America will likely be supporting Inter Miami. Nonetheless, I am eagerly anticipating the match, and I believe our players share the same sentiment. They are prepared to give their all and strive for a positive outcome.”
As part of its extensive journey, the FIFA Club World Cup trophy will visit the home cities of all 32 participating clubs. In Africa, the tour includes stops in Egypt, South Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns), Tunisia (Espérance Sportive de Tunis), and Morocco (Wydad AC).
