Robin van Persie Returns to Feyenoord as Head Coach

After parting ways with Heerenveen, Robin van Persie has officially been announced as the new head coach of Feyenoord, the club where he began and ended his illustrious playing career. The 41-year-old Dutchman has signed a contract with the club until June 2027, alongside assistant coach Rene Hake.

In a statement on Feyenoord’s website, van Persie expressed his excitement about returning to the club where he has a special connection. “Everyone knows how special my bond with Feyenoord is,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with the team and achieving success together with the support of the Legion.”

Dennis te Kloese, the general manager of Feyenoord, praised van Persie’s appointment, stating, “We are delighted to have a true club icon like Robin van Persie as our new coach. His knowledge of the club and experience will be invaluable in helping the players develop further and achieve results.”

Van Persie, who had initially signed a two-year contract with Heerenveen at the start of the season, brings a wealth of experience from his playing days with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Fenerbahce. During his time at Feyenoord, he scored 46 goals in 123 appearances.

Currently, Feyenoord sits in third place in the Dutch league, trailing Ajax Amsterdam by 11 points. The team is set to face Inter Milan in the round of 16 of the Champions League next month.

With van Persie at the helm, Feyenoord fans can expect a style of play that mirrors the club’s philosophy: aggressive, well-maintained football characterized by bravery, tenacity, and fighting spirit. The appointment of van Persie marks an exciting new chapter for the club as they aim to climb the ranks in both domestic and European competitions.
