Fazili names Malawi Scorchers squad for Morocco friendly

Scorchers Announce Squad for Friendly Match Against Morocco

Head coach Lovemore Fazili of the Scorchers has unveiled a 24-player squad for an upcoming friendly match against Morocco in Casablanca. The team, known for their fiery spirit on the field, will be facing the Atlas Lionesses on Thursday, June 19th, with their departure scheduled for Sunday, June 15th.

The squad includes five foreign-based players, with captain Tabitha Chawinga leading the pack. Joining her are Rose Kabzere, Vanessa Chikupila, Sabina Thom, and defender Benadetta Mkandawire, all bringing their international experience to the team.

This match marks the fifth international friendly for the Scorchers in 2025, following previous encounters with Zambia and South Africa earlier in the year.

GOALKEEPERS: Mercy Sikelo (Kukoma Ntopwa Women), Yamikani Kaonga (MDF Lioness), Ireen Sibande (Silver Strikers Ladies).

DEFENDERS: Benadetta Mkandawire (Biik Kazygurt), Ireen Khumalo (Silver Strikers Ladies), Rose Alufandika (Kukoma Ntopwa), Maureen Kenneth (Ascent Academy), Maggie Chavula (Ascent Academy), Justina Jumbo (Silver Strikers Ladies), Olivia Phikani (Kukoma Ntopwa Women).

MIDFIELDERS: Letticia Chinyamula (Ascent Academy), Faith Chimzimu (Ascent Academy), Tendai Sani (FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women), Zainab Kapanda (FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women), Asimenye Simwaka (MDF Lioness), Jessie Yosefe (Civo Service Women), Rose Kabzere (Montpellier), Funny Magombo (Kukoma Ntopwa Women), Victoria Mkwala (Ascent Academy).
