The annual Fame Shorts Film Festival is now open for submissions for its highly anticipated 2025 edition. Filmmakers from Africa and its diaspora are invited to showcase their unique narratives and storytelling during the festival, which will be held at Cape Town’s historic Labia Theatre from 4-6 September 2025.

This festival is a celebration of African stories, providing a platform for short films that delve into themes such as cultural heritage, modern life, diasporic identity, historical events, and pressing socio-political issues. Steven Beckett, the marketing manager for Fame Week Africa, expressed excitement about the upcoming festival, stating, “This is a showcase of Africa in all its diversity. We are looking for films that are deeply rooted in African origins, reflecting the continent’s rich storytelling traditions and contemporary realities. We welcome submissions from both emerging filmmakers and industry veterans.”
